Day 32 - Final Presentation

Today is the final presentation of Project management. Which means that our trip will be coming to an end soon. =( I will miss the fried rice that we can find in the back street. My favorite is the beef fried rice with the additional egg. It is one of the most frequently visited store that is located in the back street. They offer fried noodles and rice in their large menu. The only thing that i do not really love, is the amount of oil that is added into each order at a time. The amount of oil would definitely be considered extremely unhealthy in Singapore. But the oil is what makes the fried rice taste soooooo good. I am drooling right now. =p

Class started promptly at 9am, as we need to set up the computers to present our power-point to both Ms Neo and the class. To make the presentation arrangement fair for all the groups, Ms Neo decided on a lucky draw AGAIN. To make matters worse, we are going to present first. For the interim presentation, we were the last group to present. For the final presentation, we are the first group to present. HOW LUCKY ARE WE!!??? It was meant to be sarcastic for those who do not know. Our presentation went on rather smoothly, with little questions from the class and Ms Neo (is it a good or bad thing, that no one wanted to ask question??).

After all the groups have presented, Ms Neo announced that it was the last day of class and we have a final final excursion to the university's new campus tomorrow. Everyone was quite surprised that we still had an excursion, as everyone has made plans on how to spend the free day. But still, no more classes for the coming week before we return to Singapore!!!!

There was still time to eat the school's fried rice for the last time!! So, we rushed to the canteen before the canteen closes and we ordered the last plate of fried rice that we will be able to eat in Wu Han University of Science and Technology.

After eating lunch, we went back to our room to put down all our stuff and prepare to go out with the guys. As we were not able to get a bread van, all of us decided to take the bus for once. When we boarded the bus, we saw Xiang Hua, Xu Ke and her boyfriend. So, we decided to sit next to them and chat =)

After the long and bumpy bus ride of over 30 minutes, we finally arrived at Jiang Han Lu, where we went separate ways. We went to withdraw money first, and we shopped all the way to ATM shopping mall. However, Bu Xing Jie won't be open till 6pm, so we decided to go to Walmart first to get all the food for family and friends. The Walmart that we visited is much smaller then the one that is located in Xiao Ping Mao. There was so many things that we wanted to get, with limited budget and luggage space. In the end, i spent the least and yet, have one of the heaviest boxes. We decided that we were in no condition to shop, as we were carrying heavy and bulky boxes. So, we took a cab back, and it was only 5 30pm!!!

I decided to take a nap before we head out to buy food. But i slept till 9 30pm and it was too late to head out to buy food. So, i decided to boil and eat the sausages that we needed to clear before heading back.

Day 30 - Surprise!!!! (continuation)

The post will be a continuation from the previous post, as we are celebrating Si Hao's birthday in the night, we hope to be the first to wish him happy birthday. So, we stayed up till 12 midnight to surprise him!

After the excursion to the Museum and Dong Hu, we returned back and all of us have decided to go have a hair make over!!!! So, we took a bread van and went to Guang Gu. After arriving at Guang Gu, all of us were ushered into Yes I Do hair salon. The atmosphere was awesome! It could be compared to Singapore's Red, Sandstorm or Monsoon. Each of us had our own stylist and we were all given curls to change our looks. IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!

We finished our session in the hair salon at about 9pm. So, we took a taxi back (no buses operate after 9pm) and went to get our dinner at the back street. After we got dinner, all of us went back to our room to wait till 12 midnight to surprise Si Hao. At around 10 30pm, the local students came to our room to wait till the surprising hour.

At 11 45pm, all of us crept down to the guys' room and hid in their toilet to wait for Si Hao to return from doing his project. At exactly 12 midnight, we surprised that birthday boy!!!! =) Happy birthday Tan Si Hao. Hope you enjoyed our birthday celebration planned for you!

Day 30 - Museum & Dong Hu

Today, we are going to visit the Wu Han Museum and Dong Hu for our final excursions of this trip. We were informed that we were not provided lunch when we are in Dong Hu, so we decided to make a 03 picnic. So, we decided to wake up alot earlier to make the food for the picnic. We were running late from cooking the eggs and sausages in limited space and time, so we had to take turns to change to try and maximize the amount of people that we have, which is 4 girls. -.- And we were wondering where Tan Si Hao was, since he is the only guy that can eat the sausages and we found out that he was sleeping. -.-

Finally, after rushing out the sandwiches and sausages, we ran to the bus with small and big bags. I am sorry to those who had to wait for us, AGAIN. From school to the Museum was just a short bus ride, however we were all very tired from waking up early to prepare lunch, so we quickly fell asleep on the bus. After I fell asleep, i felt 2 knocks on my head, but i ignored it and quickly went back to my la - la land. When we reached the Museum, i asked Hazel if she felt two knocks on her head during the bus ride. Turns out, when i was sleeping, my head was moving and i knocked against her head. =p Sorry Hazel.

When we reached the Museum, we had to wait outside the security guard post, to clear entry for us to enter the Museum. Also, there was a bag check in the guard house, to check if you brought anything that may harm the visitors and the artifacts in the Museum. It was very interesting that, to visit a Museum, the government is very strict about what visitors may bring into the compound. It indicates that the government is very protective about the artifacts, as it contains the information of how the people lived in the ancient past and it is the glory of China.

After the security check, we entered the Museum compound. It was enormous!!!! The walk to the Museum building was already a long stretch of road and there was a hamburger store in the compound. It was very contradicting, as the Museum houses artifacts from a long time ago, while hamburgers are a modern food that are consumed by people from a recent era. We were allowed a short time to take photos before entering the Museum. So Cynthia quickly pulled us for a group photo.

When we entered the Museum, there were about 4 levels of artifacts that belonged to different era of China's long history. Firstly, we entered the category of Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zheng. Marquis Yi was a feudal kin that died more then 2400 years ago. The tomb of Marquis Yi was located at Leigudun in the suburbs of SuiZhou in HuBei, and it was excavated in 1978. More then 15,000 artifacts were unearthed; including ritual vessels, musical instruments, lacquered articles, gold ware, jade ware, weapons, chariot parts, harnesses and bamboo slips.

After visiting the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zheng, we went on to the next exhibit, JiuLianDun. It was a continuation of artifacts of the Tomb of Marquis Yi.

When we were about to continue the tour of the Museum in the second floor, when the tour guide told us that t was time for us to go. So, when we went out, we took some 03 photos, as we are the only 7 that wore matching shirts.

After visiting the Museum, we took a short 5 minutes bus ride to Dong Hu. In Dong Hu, we had alot of fun playing in their theme parks and walking around enjoying the beautiful scenery.

After visiting the Museum and Dong Hu, we headed back to our dorm and bid farewell to the tour guide that accompanied us throughout this whole trip.

Reflection

After the trip to the Museum, i have accomplished one more goal of trying to learn more about the rich Chinese culture and history. Now, i have deeper understanding of 5000 long years of history. Also, i also learnt about how the Chinese values their heritage and their morals. By setting up security posts and bag checks, i am abl to understand that the Chinese value their rich history very much and are willing to spend money and take time to keep what is left of their past in mint condition. Also, I have truly understand how large China is. Dong Hu is a lake, that is the size of our reservoirs. That is very large in comparision to Singaopore.
